Deductions u/s 80u & 80dd

A differently abled person is totally dependent on his father.

Can the father claim the deductions as under,

u/s 80U for Rs 150000 in his return of Income


a fixed deposit of Rs 1650000 is made in the name of differently abled child (age > 21 yrs). This FD earns 135000 interest pa.
Can deduction u/s 80DD be claimed for interest earned in the return of income filed in the name of the child?

Based on your reply I understand,
1)deduction of Rs 150000 u/s 80U can be claimed by the father of the differently abled child

and

2) In the ROI of the child, the full interest earned ie 135000 can be claimed as deduction u/s 80DD

Pls confirm.
