  Forensic Accounting and Fraud Detection course

The Forensic Accounting and Fraud Detection course at Ahmedabad has been scheduled from 7th February 2013 to 13th February 2013 (continuous seven days). One day precursor course on excel will be held on 7th February 2013 for those who do not have proficiency in mid elementary and mid level excel including Formulas, Functions, Pivots etc.

The Course will be conducted at ICAI Ahmedabad.



The course is fully practical oriented and based on live case studies and no prior preparation is required.

The Course timings will be from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM for all days. (May vary as per requirements)

20 CPE hours will be awarded after successful completion of the course.

Course Curriculum:
 

  1. Forensic Accounting & fraud detection An introduction (20%)
    1. Introduction to fraud, Forensic Accounting Definitions and concepts, illustrations.
    2. Frauds leading to Business Failure, Concept of flags Study of AAS4 for situations of fraud Types of red Flags.
       
  2.  Forensic Accounting Tools (40%)
    1.  Advanced Investigative techniques, methods of discerning  Red flags in financial statements/records , other physical checks analytical methods of investigating –trends , patterns, mathematical tests like benford’s law, luhn’s algorithim etc. special method of investigation such as birbal ticks, traps tiger, team  tests, repetitive tests, other test.
    2. Use of Software- Data Mining and Analysis in Fraud Detection, complete module with a
    3. Comprehensive case study on how to do data mining for investigation and advanced audit.
    4. IT Forensics- computer and Digital tools, Use of digital tools for computer forensics, concepts of disk imaging, file recovery, use of various tools and techniques examining questioned documents, tools techniques of examining cheques, documents, signatures.
       
  3. Forensic accounting processes & procedures (20%)
    1. Field inquiries and investigation techniques of surveillance, use of decoys and sting operations.
    2. Interviewing and interrogation techniques, difference between interviewing and interrogation, frauds in key industry- banking, advertising, insurance, petrochemicals, engineering, telecommunication etc.
    3. Processes & procedures for fraud detection, investigation and prevention of specific type of fraud committed against organizations and individuals.
       
  4. Forensic Accounting& legal environment (10%)
    1. Legislation related to fraud examination including the laws that preserve rights of individuals suspected of committing fraud and the laws that that govern civil and prosecutions the admittance of evidence of evidence, and the testimony of expert witnesses.
