Clearing CA Exams - What Next?

Kudos to everyone who cleared the CA Final exams. Hope you are feeling awesome as you are shifting from Student to Member Section..

 

Coming to the point - The intention behind this article is to guide the students regarding further procedures about getting registered as Member with ICAI. So that those difficulties which I have faced 6 months back can be easily avoided.

 

Right now, most of you might be confused about selecting Job or Practice option. Whatever it may be, this will be useful to you.

 

Well, I have tried my level best to simplify it.

 

Step-1 Fill up form No-2

 

This form should be fill up for requesting your Membership Number. This form should be filed as soon as possible. Whether you are planning for job in Corporate or in CA Firm or you are planning for for practice or you are not sure yet, you need to apply for your membership number.

Documents Required

 

* Letter of ICAI confirming Artticle training completion
 

* Mark Sheet of Both Group of ICAI

 

* Marksheet for other qualifications

 

*GMCS Certificate

 

*I-Card Form Duly Completed

 

* School leaving certificate (DOB Certificate)

 

*Confirmation Lrtter if you are paid assistant

 

 

Imporatant Note

 

1) If you are sure about your future plan and you are opting for Practice then kindly mention the desired firm name and principal place of business in the 19 & 11 column respectively. If you have not found office for your practice than you can fill up your residence address as professional address and later on you can easily update it.

 

2) If you want to change your signature than in Page No-7 of form-2, Kindly mention old as well as new signature.

 

Fees Prescribed

 

If you want COP- Its 4000+2500(Voluntary)

If You dont want COP- Its 2000+ 2500(Voluntary)

Kindly Note that 2500 is voluntary contribution towards C.A.B.F Life Membership Fees

You need to pay the fees by way of Cheque/DD in favour of

The Secretary, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India payable at New Delhi(Please confirm this with your regional branch)

 

Where to submit?

 

You need to submit this form no-2 to your concerned regional branch of ICAI.

 

Time Period and Other notes..

 

After applying for membership number, you need to wait for institutes correspondence. Mail will be delivered soon but physical letter may take some time.

 

You can approach practicing CA as he can check it online as well with the help of ID and Password allotted to him/her.

 

As per my experience, Allotment of Membership number takes 1.5 to 2 months. That's why i earlier said, apply for it as soon as possible.

 

 

Step-2 Fill up Form No-117

 

Well..This form is very much simple and it is only for those who wants to start his/her own firm or in partnership as practicing CA.

You need to apply for Name approval before you carry on practice. In this form, you need to apply for 4 desired names in order of priority and it should be applied only as per guidelines. Guidelines can be studied from below mentioned link.

It is advisable to attach the letter of Membership number along with this form..

Please note that before applying names, you are advised to search regarding availability of the same.

Fees Prescribed

 

No fees for this form

 

Where to submit?

 

You need to submit this form no-117 to following address by way of speed post or ordinary post .

Sr. Deputy Secretary, M&C MSS Section,

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India,

Post Box 7100, Indraprastha Marg, NewDelhi 110002

or can be faxed at 011-30110588

 

Time Period and Other notes..

 

It will take around 15 to 20 days for approval of name. If names applied by you are not available or not as per this guidelines then ICAI will suggest you and you again need to fill up this form.

 

Step-3 Fill up Form No-18

 

Once your name is approved by you and you get mail for the same or letter for that than within a period of 30 days, you need to apply for FRN No.

 

Documents Required

 

The letter of name approval should be attached with this form.

 

Fees Prescribed

 

No fees for this form if filed within 30 days after name approval

 

Where to submit?

 

You need to submit this form no-18 to your concerned regional branch of ICAI.

 

Time Period and Other notes..

 

It will take 15 more days after application for getting FRN.
