Union Budget 2014 -15 is foresighted and directional which will lay the roadmap for the future. The budgetary changes in taxation front are measures to revive the economy, promote investment in manufacturing sector and rationalize tax provisions so as to reduce litigation as well as to address the problem of inverted duty structure in certain areas. The amendments brought in the area of Indirect Taxes by the bill have far reaching effects and would prove instrumental in paving the way for implementation of Goods and Service Tax (GST) in near future.
The Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI is undertaking various initiatives in order to keep the members abreast and hands on with the Indirect Tax Laws and changes therein. Continuing with its efforts to update the members, the Indirect Taxes Committee is coming up with its next webcast on topics "Changes in Indirect Taxes made by Union Budget 2014-15” and "Place of Provision of Service Rules, 2012” details of which are as under:
