  Lecture Meeting on Foreign assets

Bombay Chartered Accountants' Society

Lecture Meeting

Dear Members,

Recent disclosures about Indians allegedly holding undisclosed money in overseas bank accounts has triggered concerted actions by the income-tax authorities with far and wide implications including attachment of assets running into very large amounts. This is causing severe hardships even in genuine cases.

In a related development, the Government has introduced the Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets (Imposition of Tax) Bill, 2015 in the Parliament on 20th March, 2015 which will have far reaching effects. This new law will also impose liability for abetting or inducing another to willfully attempt to evade tax or to make false statements/declarations in relation to foreign income and assets and will impact professional advisors such as private banks, accountants, lawyers and other consultants whose actions may potentially be covered under 'abetment or inducement'.

In order to discuss and understand above developments, your Society has arranged the following Lecture Meeting where the Learned Speaker will discuss and analyse the above developments in detail and share his practical experiences.
